Dear Editor,
Many are not aware how important our safety is at this time especially since the release of Omicron 1 and 2. The Omicron variant of COVID-19 spreads more rapidly because it has more mutations than any other variant, hence, Omicron is said be more contagious than Covid-19 Alpha. According to the medical news, the current two-dose COVID-19 vaccines were not effective in preventing the spread of the Omicron variant, as determined by data that there are more than 800,000 Omicron-infected individuals. Scientists are currently working on improving new Omicron vaccines at this time.
Therefore, at this time I urge our Guyanese to all be safe and have a balanced meal to survive the pandemic. I also urge the government to investigate persons who still continue to break the laws of Guyana by not wearing a mask in the office/road. We need to be stricter on these protocols by allowing our police force to conduct investigations. Remember guys, wear a mask, sanitize and keep distancing yourself from others since prediction of this pandemic is that it is expected last until 2024.
