An Albouystown man, who was booked on a flight to Barbados, was arrested on Saturday at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport after Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) officers found around 40 pounds of cannabis in his luggage.

CANU, in a brief statement, said 23 parcels of suspected cannabis were discovered in luggage of Elvis Fitzgerald Thuesday, 47, of Lot 86 Hunter Street, Albouystown. As a result, Thuesday was arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters with the suspected narcotics, which was later confirmed to be poppy weed, with a total weight of 18.370 kilogrammes (40 pounds) and a street value of over $7 million.
