East Bank Demerara defeated Canada-based Tranzac Cricket Academy by six runs yesterday at the Everest Cricket Club ground.
East Bank won the toss and batted, posting 129 all out in 34.2 overs. Tranzac in reply were dismissed for 123 in 28.1 overs.
East Bank’s Josiah Lim scored an even half century from 57 balls, featuring two sixes and three fours before he was caught and bowled by Dev Patel who bagged 3-21.
Vijay Ramrathan was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 23 from 27 balls, hitting one six and one four while extras accounted for 23.
Miguel Nandu picked up 2-27 while Karan Amin, Neeran Bani, Marcel Nandu, Moksh Patel and Zeeshan Ally picked up a wicket a piece.
In the chase, Farhan Housain came to East Bank’s rescue with an incredible bowling display of 7-26 from eight overs. He was supported by Dravid Manohar with 2-19.
Miguel (20) and Marcel Nandu (10) added 48 for the opening partnership before both were trapped leg before wicket by Housain. Amin top scored with 27 from 30 balls but Housain continued to work through the batting order, eventually trapping Amin leg before wicket.
Ally chipped in with 17 while number 11, Bani made 12. Extras tallied a hefty 32.
