Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo and off-spinner Gudakesh Motie led Albion Community Centre Cricket Club to a seven wicket win over Blairmont Blazers
Sunday in the inaugural Shameer Baksh Memorial Cup at the Albion Community Centre Ground, Berbice.
The former West Indies leg-spinner Bishoo bagged 4-17 and West Indies spinner Motie supported with 2-18 as Blairmont Blazers, batting first, were bundled out for 117 in 37 of their allotted 50 overs.
National youth left-arm spinner, Kevin Umroa chipped in with 2-19.
Blazers batting was led by West Indies all-rounder, Kevin Sinclair, who top scored with 53 laced with five boundaries before a top edge off of Umroa, ended his innings.
Albion then eased to 118 for three in 17.3 overs with Kandasammy Surujnarine and Adrian Sukwah hitting 32 runs each. Jonathan Foo then produced an inspiring 19 not out to see the hosts over the line with Motie ending on seven not out. Kevon Jawahir bagged 2-25.
The match was followed by a T10 shootout with Albion again getting the better of Blazers by seven wickets.
Blazers reached 71 all out with Junior Sinclair and Kevlon Anderson hitting 19 and 18 runs respectively. Umroa captured 4-11 and Bishoo 2-11.
In reply, Albion reached 72 for three with a ball to spare, led by Foo who hammered 43 not out, decorated with two sixes and five fours. He added 50 from six overs with Sharaz Ramcharran who made 23. Suresh Dhani picked up 2-11 while Junior Sinclair got 1-10.
