A passenger traveling in a car was on Tuesday busted with a quantity of cannabis at a roadblock set up in front of the Weldaad Police Station, West Coast Berbice.
The Guyana Police Force explained in a statement yesterday that the lone passenger was travelling in a car, HD 2424, which was being driven by a 50-year-old man.
The statement noted that the police found a wrapped parcel in a brown haversack, carried by the passenger. It contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis.
The cannabis amounted to be 1,814 grammes (equivalent to almost 4 pounds) in total.
After the discovery, the police told the passenger of the offence after which he confessed to being in possession of the cannabis. He was then arrested at the location.
