Police in Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) are probing an armed attack during which a group of five fishermen were robbed of $303,000 in cash and cellular phones early yesterday morning.
In a brief statement yesterday, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that the fishermen, ages 61, 59, 55, 47 and 44, reported that they were unloading their vessel when the two bandits approached and relieved them of the valuables.
The incident took place at the Goed Fortuin koker, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
The police said that the perpetrators, who are “known,” were armed with a gun and a knife. They did not provide any other details.
A police investigation is ongoing and no arrest had been made up to yesterday afternoon.
