Bail was yesterday denied to a 30-year-old businessman of East Street in whose home cannabis was found by the police.
Nicholas Samaroo yesterday appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus after 2.030 kg of cannabis was found at his Lot 319 East Street, North Cummingsburg home on March 16th 2022.
Samaroo’s attorney, Dexter Todd, argued that his client is not guilty due to multiple occupancy. According to Todd, Samaroo lives in the upper flat of the house with his common-law wife and he had rented the bottom flat to someone prior to the incident. He said that the tenant left just a few days before the police bust.
Todd went on to say that not only his client is in possession of a key for the lock of the container which held the cannabis but also his common-law wife and the recent tenant.
Samaroo pleaded not guilty but bail was denied by the magistrate. The man is to make his next court appearance on April 1st 2022 at the said court.
