Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) topped Zone B after a draw against Transport Sports Club in the Georgetown Cricket Association/Noble House Seafoods two-day second-division tournament over the weekend.
Transport won the toss and batted posting 183 all out in their first innings from 63.5 overs and 90 for three before the end of play on the final day in their second innings. DCC piled on 310 all out from 104.3 overs in their first innings.
In Transport’s first innings, Myhiem Khan top scored with 48. His patient innings saw him facing 104 balls and hitting seven boundaries before being stumped by Jadon Campbell off of Recardo Percival who bagged 3-46. Shiloh Adams managed 37 from 109 and added 50 for the second wicket with Alvin Mohabir who made 31 from 37 balls before being run out. Riyad Latif supported with a 43-ball 33 before he was bowled by left-arm spinner, Daniel Motoo who ended with 3-21.
DCC secured first innings points after securing a lead of 118 after a hefty opening stand. Campbell returned to carve 10 fours and two sixes during his 102 from 200 balls. He added 188 for the opening partnership with Brandon Jaikaran who grafted his way to 81 from 162 balls. His innings was decorated with four fours and one six.
DCC then lost five wickets for 18 runs as Azeem Azeez bagged 5-56 and Stephon Sankar 2-42.
Shamar Yearwood complemented with 36 from 68 balls while Mootoo returned to chip in with 30 from 64 balls.
Transport enjoyed another solid stat with Adams (19) and Jeremiah Hohenkirk (17) adding 41. Mohabir made a ball-a-run 35 not out while Khan ended on 11 not out.
DCC topped Zone B with 148 points while Everest ended with 129 points. In the semifinal, DCC will take on Malteenoes Sports Club who finished second in Zone A with 112 points while Everest will face Zone A leader, GCC who ended with 163 points.
