Number 72 Cut and Load Cricket Club defeated rival, No. 70 Spartan Cricket Club by 33 runs to earn a spot in the final of the Berbice Cricket Board/Upper Corentyne Cricket Association/ Vitality T20 tournament Sunday.
Playing at the picturesque No. 69 Red Rose Ground in front of an encouraging sized audience, Cut and Load won the toss and decided to take first strike, posting 144 for eight from their allotted overs.
In reply, Spartan were bowled out in 15.3 overs for 111.
Leading the way for Cut and Load No 72 was Davenand Chatterpaul with a splendid 52. He was supported by Ramesh Omapersaud with 26 and Samuel Serroa with 25. Cut and Load No 72’s charge was pegged by Omeshwar Khemraj who bagged 3-17 and Latchman Roopchand who returned 3-35. Tameshwar Ramoutar also took 1-44.
In reply, Roopchand returned to make 33 but only got support from Akash Persaud with 17. Ramprashad Ramdat rsn through Spartan’s middle order to end with 5-22 and got support from Souraj Chatterpaul with 2-32 to set up their clash in the final against Dukestown.
According to the Berbice Cricket Board, the body will now speak to the sponsors in order to decide a venue and date for the final which could be next weekend at the No. 69 Vikings Ground.
