The Demerara Inter-Association Under15 cricket competition continued with Georgetown continuing their run with a nine-wicket win over East Bank Demerara yesterday.
East Bank were routed for 71 in 33.3 overs at Muslim Youth Organisation while Georgetown raced to 77 for one in 17.4 overs.
Only Roupie Rajaran with 17 from 70 balls, laced with two boundaries and Josiah Lim with 11 managed double figures while Extras accounted for 28. Dhanesh Persaud ended with 3-14 and Brandon Henry returned 2-8. Johnathan Mentore, Reyaz Latif, Shane Prince and Kwesi Wilkinson picked up a wicket a piece.
In the chase, a solid 60-run opening stand laid the foundation for Georgetown. Lomar Seecharan top scored with 29 not out from 56 balls. His innings featured five fours and a six while getting support from Kishan Silas who made 23 from 46 balls. He struck four fours and a six before falling to Sayyad Lakeram (1-18). East Bank gifted 25 extras.
Meanwhile at Meter-Meer-Zorg, West Demerara won the toss and elected to bat as they scored 63 all out from 21.3 overs. Arvind Suknanad top scored with 12 and was the lone batter to scored double figure. Keron Phillips and Vickram Persaud claimed 3 for 13 and 9 individually, while Carlos Clark collected 2 for 13.
In response, Upper Demerara struggled as they fell for 41 from 13 overs. Phillips came bat with the bat and try to take his team to their target before he was dismissed for 14. Bowling for West Demerara, Naresh Sankar ripped through the Upper Demerara batting line up as he claimed 8 for 7 and was supported by Shaker Lall and Joshua Kishudidial who took one wicket each. West Demerara won by 22 runs
