Guyana XI registered a 76-run win over American Cricket Society (ACS) yesterday at Everest Cricket Club.
Guyana won the toss and opted to bat, posting 251 for nine from their allotted 35 overs before bowling out ACS for 175 in 34.5 overs.
Matthew Nandu anchored the innings after the early loss of Trevon Griffith (4) and Chandrapaul Hemraj who looked belligerent with a 15-ball 28. The West Indies Under-19 captain batted throughout the innings to finish on 68 not out from 70 balls, laced with four boundaries.
Nandu added 106 valuable runs with captain, Keemo Paul, who raced to 70 from 35 balls. Paul hammered three fours and seven sixes, two of which went sailing against the breeze towards the Atlantic Ocean over long on and one which was swept onto the roof of the main pavilion.
Cameos came from Akshaya Persaud, who made 25 while sharing a 50-run partnership with Nandu and Tevin Imlach with 22 while extras chalked up 21. Nial Smith picked up 3-31 while Assad Fudadin grabbed 3-35.
ACS had a solid start with an 88-run opening partnership between Akshay Homraj and Dominique Rikhi. Homraj carved three sixes and five fours on his way to 54 from just 39 balls while Rikhi made 44 from 54 balls. A collapse in the batting order saw ACS slipping from 121 for two to 131 for six as the spinners got into operation.
Left arm spinner, Gudakesh Motie was the principal bowler with 3-21 while Antony Adams returned 3-37. Persaud also picked up 2-10.
Jeetendra Sookdeo finished on 19 not out while Randall Wilson and Fudadin were the only other batsmen to reach double figures with 12.
