Former senior Essequibo inter-county opening batsman Ravie Beharry struck a flamboyant 135, spurring Sunrisers Masters to a resounding 63-run win over Devonshire Castle last Sunday when action continued in the 2022 Essequibo Softball Cricket League (ESCL) over 40, T20 competition at Zorg Beach, Essequibo Coast.
The right-hander carved 16 boundaries with nine, landing over the ropes as Sunrisers raced to 278 for four from their full complement of overs. Darshan Narine supported with a responsible 44.
In reply, Devonshire managed 215 for eight when their overs ended.
Darshan Lall top scored with 59 while Antonio Persaud worked his way to 48.
Omeshwar Lall and Gopaul Deen bagged two wickets each.
At Zorg Beach, Hibernia Strikers suffered a 48-run loss to Caribbean Cricket Club (CCC). CCC raced to 256 for six from their allotted overs before dismissing Hibernia Strikers for 208 in the penultimate over.
CCC’s Patrick Rooplall continued his purple patch with a vibrant 72. Joel Da Silva chalked up 54 during CCC’s innings.
In Strikers’ innings, Jarran Ramlall struck 72 while Dalip Lakhan chipped in with 44. The experienced Naresh Narine grabbed 4-14 from just 10 balls overs and Ekie Baksh complemented with 2-23 from four overs.
At the same venue, Ravens Sports Club defeated Queenstown Tigers by five wickets. Tigers roared to a challenging 213 all out off 19.1 overs while Ravens responded with 214-5 with 16 balls to spare.
Veteran softball player Ramesh Narine scored an impressive 81 not out for Ravens while Sugrim Ahiram notched up 57. The competition is set to continue on Sunday. CCC will tackle Sunrisers Masters at Affiance while at Hibernia, Devonshire Castle will collide with Queenstown Tigers and at the same venue, Ravens will confront the hosts.
