Kids Fest 592’s fifth annual pageant and festival is slated for Easter Sunday under the theme ‘Sea Princess’, at the Promenade Gardens. The event will see girls aged three to 14 years old showcasing their talent, creativity, elegance and eco-consciousness.
“The pageant is about helping them develop confidence and courage,” Kids Fest 592 CEO Natalya Thomas-Small said.
The contestants will compete in four age categories: three to five years old, six to eight, nine to 11, and 12 to 14 in Talent, Creative Wear Costume, and Sea Princess segments, in the last of which they will grace the stage wearing gowns. All contestants will be awarded for their bravery and participation.
Natalya pointed out that an important part of the pageant is the preliminary competition ‘Beach Trash to Sea Art’ where the girls will be required to create sea-creature costumes from bottles and plastic they recycled. Their creations will be displayed at the pageant.
They will also engage in a clean-up campaign along the Kitty Seawall as part of encouraging others to preserve marine life, the reefs and beaches.
Registration for the pageant closed yesterday and contestants are expected to begin rehearsals tomorrow.
Among the prizes are a laptop, books, dental check-up, hampers, and cash.
Sponsors of the event are Edward Beharry, Banks DIH, Bermuda’s, GTT and Impressions. At present, Kids Fest 592 is awaiting confirmation of support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
The pageant begins at 3.30 pm. However, gates will be opened earlier to cater for the fun day beginning at 1 pm. Patrons will have the opportunity to participate in a Bunny Hunt Competition as well as take part in other games that will be available.
Tickets cost $1,500 and include a free hamper. Children under three are free.
