Mohabir’s ton, Latif brothers give Transport 343-run win over Agricola

A century from Alvin Mohabir and support from the Latif brothers, Ryan and Riyad led Transport Sports Club to a 343-run win over Foundation Positive Agricola while Bel Air Rubis brushed aside Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) by 64 runs yesterday.

Playing in the Georgetown Cricket Association Ramchand Auto Sales/Survival Group of Companies/Trophy Stall under-19 50-over tournament at Queen’s College, Agricola won the toss and inserted Transport who posted 399 all out in 45.5 overs. Agricola were rolled over for 56 in 16.2 overs.

Former Guyana under-17 captain Mohabir faced  53 balls and hammered six sixes and eight fours in 101.

The right-hander shared a 91-run partnership for the fourth wicket Riyad Latif who made 35 from 33 balls.

Mohabir also added 61 runs for the second wicket with Ryan Latif who raced to 59 from 60 balls,  striking nine fours and a six before both batsmen were dismissed by Andell Manhorlall (4-60).

Ryan Latif had laid the foundation with Jeremiah Hohenkirk (19), the duo adding 94 runs for the opening partnership.

Cameos came from Nehemiah Hohenkirk (24), Dave Mohabir (22) and Shiloh Adams (20) while Extras tallied 92 with 68 wides and 16 no balls.

Joshua Narine took 3-83 and Shaun Thompson  2-68.

In the chase, only Neil Huttin managed double figures with a 26-ball 25 while Extras accounted for 18 as Riyad Latif took three wickets for one run. Kelvin Gordon and Nehemiah Hohenkirk picked up two wickets for 13 and 17 runs respectively.

Over at MYO, Bel Air Rubis posted 158 in 30.4 overs and MYO were routed for 94 in 28.2 overs. Extras contributed 36 while Ajay Gainda managed 27 from 46 balls before being trapped leg before wicket by Farhan Hossain (3-38). Cameos came from Lawrence Pellew (23) and Anthony Khan (19) who added 50 for the opening stand. Avinash Rajkumar took 3-17 and Ryan Ramlall 2-29.

MYO’s push was curtailed by Nicholas Chan who took 4-12. Gainda returned to take 2-6 and Rudranauth Kissoon bagged 2-12.

Delon Ramroop top scored with 24 from 42 balls while Zeynul Ramsammy (17) and Rajkumar (12) were the only batsmen to reach double figures.
