A 38-year-old resident of Bartica is now dead after a tree branch fell and struck him on Tuesday at Two Point Backdam, Cuyuni River.
The dead man has been identified as Damyon Gibson.
The incident occurred around 12.00hrs.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) in a statement yesterday said that information revealed that Gibson, who was the owner of a dredge operation was having a conversation with a friend when the branch fell from a nearby tree and struck him in his head.
Gibson sustained injuries and fell. His workers rushed to his assistance and took him to the Aurora Mining Company, Cuyuni River where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
His body is presently at the Bartica Regional Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
