Beautician Onika Pompey was yesterday released on $200,000 bail after being charged with making a derogatory Facebook post with the aim of tarnishing the reputation of singer Kwasi ‘Ace’ Edmondson.

Pompey, 32, of Lot 479 Corriverton, Berbice, yesterday appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in George-town, where the charge was read to her.

According to the charge, between October 29, 2021 and November 8, 2021, Pompey made a derogatory Facebook post about Edmonson.

The woman pleaded not guilty to the charge and was placed on bail.

The prosecutor had no objection to bail but asked that the accused report to the Brickdam Police Station on the first and last Friday of every month until the conclusion of the matter.

Pompey is to make her next court appearance on April 27, 2022.
