The Georgetown Cricket Association is bracing for a packed weekend of cricket in the city with the Noble House Seafoods second-division two-day final set to take place.
Everest Cricket Club will host Demerara Cricket Club from 11.00 hours and a new champion will be crowned. Teams had mixed fortunes leading into the finals as DCC recovered from a first innings lead of six to win by six wickets against Malteenoes Sports Club while Everest held on to secure first innings points and knock out defending champs, Georgetown Cricket Club.
Everest will have the services of the experienced Dwayne Adams, Javeed Rasheed and Amir Khan along with young guns, Matthew Nandu and Richie Looknauth while DCC will be equipped with Daniel Mootoo, Sachin Singh, Qumar Torrington, Raymond Perez, Jaydon Campbell and company.
Over the weekend, Malteenoes will be in action as they take on Guyana Defence Force in the GISE/Star Party Rental/Trophy Stall first-division two-day tournament at the Police Sports Club ground.
Meanwhile, GCC will clash with Police Sports Club in the New Building Society second-division 40-over semi-final at GCC from 11.00 hours today.
Today, also, Bel Air Rubis will take on Transport at Queen’s College while GT XI is expected to face Malteenoes in the Ramchand Auto Spares/Survival Group of Companies/Trophy Stall under-19 50-over tournament.
The tournament continues tomorrow with GCC clashing with DCC at GCC, Queen’s College battling Bel Air Rubis at Queen’s College, Muslim Youth Organisation hosting Transport and GT XI taking on GNIC at Transport.
