Nadine Trotz, manager of the CARIFTA Games bound athletes has expressed confidence that the teen athletes will show up and show out when the event is staged in Kington, Jamaica during the Easter weekend.
After officially releasing the team yesterday, Trotz stated:“I am confident that our athletes will do their best. We have seen our athletes constantly improve over the Trials, so we are expecting them to make the best of this exposure to greater competition.”
Guyana will field a team of 13 athletes spearheaded by 2019 javelin gold medalist, Anisha Gibbons, 800m bronze medalist, Adriel Austin as well as standouts, Keliza Smith and Attoya Harvey.
“It is a very talented team of junior athletes that will represent Guyana and we expect them to return with hardware” Trotz added.

U-17 Girls

Keliza Smith (100m, 200m), Karese Lloyd (100m, 200m), Hannah Reid (400m), Adriel Austin (800m), Anisha Gibbons (javelin)

Shamar Horatio (100m, 200m), Ezekiel Newton (100m, 200m), Wesley Tyndall (long jump), Gabriel Lim (javelin and discus), Trevon Hamer (triple jump)
When the last CARIFTA Games were staged in 2019 in the Cayman Islands, Guyana’s record 21-athlete contingent finished with nine medals, four gold, two silver and three bronze.
Sham Johnny and Raymond Daw are the coaches on the sojourn to Jamaica.
