Charismatic Guyanese all-rounder, Keemo Paul has signed with the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the 2022 edition of the Caribbean Premier League during the pre-draft retentions and signings.
Paul, who first joined the Amazon Warriors set up in 2017, played until last year when he signed with St. Lucia Stars for the 2021 season.
Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd and Odean Smith, all of whom are currently in the Indian Premier League (IPL) were retained along with Chandrapaul Hemraj. Gudakesh Motie was also signed having been a member of the franchise last season.
Warriors, though, have lost opener, Brandon King, who is now with the Jamaica Tallawahs franchise along with Fabian Allen. Rovman Powell, Kennar Lewis and Shamarh Brooks were all retained.
Warriors will be without their former captain, Nicholas Pooran who has returned to former champions Trinbago Knight Riders. Pooran will team up with Andre Russell who was also signed to the franchise while Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Akeal Hosein, Jayden Seals and Tion Webster have been retained.
Knights have lost Darren Bravo, who will join defending champions, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots along with his brother, Dwayne, Evin Lewis, Sheldon Cottrell, Sherfane Rutherford, Andre Fletcher and Dominic Drakes.
St. Lucia Kings have retained last year’s Man-of-the-Series, Roston Chase, along with Kesrick Williams, Jeavor Royal and Alzarri Joseph while Johnson Charles and Mark Deyal have signed with the franchise.
The Barbados Royals have retained their 2021 captain, Jason Holder, along with Kyle Mayers, Hayden Walsh, Oshane Thomas and Nyeem Young.
The Royals’ signings are Devon Thomas, who joins them from the Patriots and Obed McCoy, who was with the Kings in 2021.
The ‘Biggest party in Sport’ will bowl off on August 30 with the final set for Guyana on September 30.
