A man was yesterday denied bail after the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) claimed it found him with a pistol and matching rounds.
David Lynch, 44, pleaded not guilty to the charges which states that on April 6, at Independence Boulevard, La Penitence, he had a 9mm Glock 17 pistol with matching rounds in his possession, while not being a licensed firearm holder.
Presiding Magistrate Leron Daly denied bail and the matter was adjourned until May 13, 2022.
CANU had initially reported that an intelligence-led operation was conducted at 259 Independence Boulevard, La Penitence Georgetown, which resulted in the discovery of the pistol with a magazine containing four 9mm rounds.
As a result of the discovery, Lynch was arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters with the firearm and ammunition, the agency had said.
