Region Two Chairperson Vilma De Silva on Friday called on Essequibo residents to use the day to reunite and iron out their indifferences for the betterment of the region.
De Silva made the statements during an inter-faith service held in the compound of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) on Friday morning in observance of the National Day of Fasting and Prayers.
Speaking to staff members, De Silva said the day speaks for itself as all religions can come together and fast. She also urged staff members to use the day to iron out indifferences and to embrace each other’s culture.
During the service, staff members recited prayers together. The prayers were said by staff members who represented the three major religions. Prayers were said before workers commenced their work.
