Cyber crime among topics at insurance institute training

The Insurance Institute of Guyana (IIG) in association with SBN Human Capital recently completed a four-day training course for insurance industry members and cyber crime was among the topics addressed.

 The course covered among other topics the Basic Principles of Insurance, the Law of Contract & Agency, the various types of Insurances, the Structure of the Insurance Market including Lloyds of London, Regulation & Compliance and Claims.

The course also dealt with new and emerging risks such as Cyber and Electronic Crime, and the risks posed by gadgets such as drones. Insurance solutions and the type of policies to cover these risks were also addressed.

 The Facilitator during the four days was Raymond McMillan, a Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Approved Trainer. 

In brief remarks at the presentation function, Bish Panday, President of the IIG said that training and continued professional development are important in any profession and the Insurance field is no different. He added that the challenges of the Oil & Gas sector make it even more vital for the Institute to fashion and tailor courses to meet the evolving needs of the Industry.
