(Trinidad Guardian) Minutes after he preached about the importance of preparing for the second coming of Jesus, a Pointe-a-Pierre evangelist was shot dead in front of his family on Monday.
It was compounding grief for Kerwyn Davis’ family as they witnessed his death while leaving a 40-day prayer service for his father, Anthony, 78, who passed away from COVID-19 last month.
While investigators did not arrest anyone for the murder, information suggests that the inheritance of land could be a motive.
A report stated that Davis, 33, of the St Ann’s Healing School, a Spiritual Baptist organisation based in Marabella, officiated the service at Jack Street, Marabella, where his father lived.
As he got into his blue Toyota Corolla Axio car with his mother and sister and attempted to drive off, a gunman ran to the front and shot him several times.
A bullet grazed Davis’ sister, who sat in the back seat.
The gunman ran off as the car rolled along the street before stopping in a drain.
Police said they responded to reports of the shooting and found Davis slumped over the steering wheel.
Paramedics responded, but he was already dead.
They treated his sister’s wound at the scene.
A relative at Davis’ home said she could not speak at the time.
