Ariel Tilku produced a rounded performance on Sunday to spur La Bonne Intention (LBI) Cricket Club to a 172-run win over Buxton Carl Hooper Cricket Club in the East Coast Cricket Board Navin/Hanso first-division 50-over tournament.
Playing at home, LBI won the toss and batted first, posting 273 for nine from their allotted overs before restricting Buxton to 101 in 26.4 overs.
After a 53-run partnership for the opening wicket between Alex Algoo (34) and Ravindra Samaroo (11), Tilku smashed four sixes and three fours in the top score of 75 before holding out to extra cover.
Nizam Khan made 52 with two sixes and a four. Cameos also came from Richard Dowlatram (24) and Wazim Khan (18).
Anu Abrams was the pick of the bowlers with 2-17 while Anthony McFarline and Ackeem Blackman picked up two wickets each for 44 and 68 runs respectively.
Buxton’s chase was curtailed by Yogeshwar Bishun who grabbed 5-29 as well as Dowlatram and Tilku who returned to take 3-19 and 2-22 respectively.
Owen Andrews top scored with 31 while extras had the next best tally with 21. McFarline and Kurt Booker both made 10.
