A 22-year-old Linden resident was yesterday placed on $500,000 bail after he was charged in relation to the accident which claimed the life of motorcyclist, Odel Taylor on Sunday.

David Narine of Lot 7 Half Mile, Linden appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court 7.

He was also charged with two other traffic related offences; being an unlicensed rider and rising an uninsured vehicle and fined $30,000 for each.

Narine denied that on April 10th at Half Mile Public Road, Wismar, Linden, he rode motorcycle, CF 6477 in a manner dangerous to the public, thereby causing the death of Taylor. Bail was granted in the sum of $500,000.

However, he pleaded guilty to the two other charges which stemmed from the said accident and was fined.

The matter was adjourned to May 04th.

The accident occurred around 7.45am.

At the time, Taylor, 18, of Lot 90, One Mile, Wismar was riding motorcycle, CL 731 north along the western side of the public road while Narine was proceeding east out of Pinette Street heading onto the One Mile Public Road.

The police said reports revealed that Narine failed to stop at the junction and rode into the path of Taylor.

As a result, Taylor who was not wearing a helmet fell on the road  and sustained injuries to his head.

He was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Narine fled the scene and was subsequently apprehended by the police.
