After two years of reduced kite flying due to the pandemic measures, kite vendors are now all smiles as they say that business is booming this Easter season.
Stabroek News yesterday took a walk on Camp Street where there were a few vendors selling kites and close to being sold out.
One of the kite vendors, Maurice Prince, who has been in the business for thirty-five years, told this newspaper that he was extremely happy and thankful for his customers’ support. He also acknowledged the various ministries who bought kites from him for their Easter charities and donation drives.
Prince noted that since the Easter season began, he has made over 400 kites most of which have already been sold.
“Business have been good… I must say that the Government did their part in supporting the kite sellers… I made over 400 kites and all nearly sell out right now.”
According to Khalfani Davso, another kite vendor who came out this Easter to showcase his kites, his sales have been going good thus far. However, the ‘hand-made’ kites were being bought quicker than the ‘bird-kites,’ but nevertheless, he was still grateful for the sale.
“Sales is going alright so far…the most kite I made this year was like 300 and as you can see almost all are being bought… the ones that I made are being bought quicker though,” said the young man.
As the Easter season steps in and with the removal of the COVID restrictions, many persons are eager to celebrate the holiday with the traditional kite flying outings with their family and friends. (Aviso Paul)
