Guyana loses opener in 2022 CAC Games Hockey Qualifier

Guyana lost their opening match in the 2022 Central American & Caribbean (CAC) Games Hockey Qualifier, going down to Puerto Rico by a 1-0 scoreline yesterday in Hamilton, Bermuda.

Josefina Freaney separated the two teams, following a scoreless first half interval, compliments of a 48th minute penalty conversion. Meanwhile, the host nation edged Jamaica 2-1 in the other match from the group. 

Guyana, who are seeded 66th, will continue their campaign against 73rd ranked Bermuda tomorrow. Their final group fixture will occur against 63rd ranked Jamaica on Sunday 17.
