A composed century from Georgetown Cricket Association Select Under-17 opener, Jaden Campbell, ensured his side a draw against Tri-State in their two-day encounter yesterday at the Demerara Cricket Club ground.
Tri-State won the toss, batted, and piled up 361 all out in 103.2 overs while GCA responded with 296 all out in 68.5 overs, the match ending with Tri-State taking a 65-run first innings lead.
Campbell played a fluent innings of 137 runs which featured 12 fours and three sixes but it was a sweep into square leg combined with four overthrows that saw him reaching his century. The right hander then switched gear and began to play with a bit more freedom, giving Tri-State two chances which were botched. However, his 175-ball innings came to an end when he was caught by Ruhan Swar off of Tanish Dongre.
Campbell added 46 for the opening wicket alongside Jeremiah Hohenkirk who was bowled by Anirudh Bolisetty for 22. Nevertheless, Campbell was joined by Alvin Mohabir and together they shared an 83-run partnership for the second wicket.
Mohabir raced to 53 from just 33 balls, laced with 10 fours and a six before he was adjudged stumped off of Ansh Rai.
Rai pegged GCA’s innings back with two quick strikes to remove Jonathan Van Lange and Jaden Dowlin and end with 3-70.
Myhiem Khan countered with a patient 82-ball 42, which featured three boundaries as he added 81 for the fifth wicket with Campbell before he was run out. Shiloh Adams chipped in with 19 from 57 balls but Dongre and Bolisetty returned to end with three wickets each for 23 and 71 runs respectively.
