Scores of persons in Region Two yesterday gathered at the Perseverance beach to celebrate Easter after staying home for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Children woke up very early to raise their kites in open spaces. Many ball fields and recreational grounds were filled with families.
Youths from Golden Fleece revealed that they were happy that the Ministry of Health relaxed the curfew rules. The youths said that they are glad the “hype” for Easter returned and families can go to the beach for the usual Easter lime and picnic.
One youngster Daniel Danpat said that this year it’s different and he doesn’t have to be confined to his home.
“I look forward to the Easter Lime, my siblings and I would get new clothes and we would go fly our kites at the beach, we will also catch up with our friends,” Danpat said.
The Narine family was seen on the beach picnicking and also doing Bar-B-Que. They related that it is something they really missed and they are glad they can do it this year.
Many families ensured they purchased kites for their children. The blue sky was dotted with all types.
For the rest of the day most families visited each other or took long drives. Families also went to various resorts in Region Two.
