Dear Editor,
Having seen snippets of the recent Dexta Dapps concert at the National Stadium on Easter Sunday, I hope that the necessary safeguards were in place to protect the children and others living near the stadium. The audio emanating from the show can only be described as verbal pornography. I am no prude, and there is a place for pornography (for adults in the confines of their personal space with headphones). In other Caribbean countries, including Jamaica, these shows are increasingly banished to remote locations, in some cases offshore, because of the noise and other impacts. Maybe that is something we should consider.
A prosperous society requires us to balance the needs of all members of our community, especially the vulnerable such as children.
Yours faithfully,
