A 41-year-old mechanic of Wismar Housing Scheme, Wismar, is currently a patient at the Linden Hospital Complex after he was shot on Monday night by a man who also snatched his chain and wedding ring, valued at a total of $420,000.
According to police, the victim is Delon Hope of Phase 1 ‘B’ Wisroc, Wismar Housing Scheme, Wismar, Linden. Hope was relieved of a gold chain valued at $300,000 and a wedding ring valued at $120,000.
Enquiries reveal that about 10 pm, Hope and his family were returning home from an Easter Monday event when the suspect came from the front of the victim’s yard and pointed a handgun in Hope’s direction demanding his valuables.
Hope refused and the suspect shot him in his left thigh before snatching his chain and ring and then escaping on foot.
The victim was subsequently transported to hospital where he is currently a patient. His condition is listed as stable.
Investigations are ongoing.
