The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Dave West Indies Imports and Exports U15 Inter-County tournament bowls off tomorrow with matches streamed live.
According to a release from the board, first-round matches will be played at the Imam Bacchus Ground in Essequibo and the Number 69 ground in Berbice.
“The playing of matches at various venues across the country as against restricting matches to Demerara is a priority choice of the GCB,” the release stated.
“It is critical that we expose players from an early age to varying conditions,” said GCB president Bissoondyal Singh.
“By playing matches across the country players will need to assess and adopt to the different pitch conditions in real time – within the context of match. Further, traveling across the country gives players more opportunities to grow as a team, to negotiate challenges that arise due to the dynamics of the team and the display of ambassador qualities that comes with the responsibility of representing teams,” he added.
Singh remarked that another priority choice of the GCB’s five-year strategy plan is to provide live streaming of Inter-County matches.
“This allows our players and proud sponsors to be further marketed within and outside of Guyana. The live and recorded videos will give players and coaches additional opportunity to assess players’ strengths and weaknesses and to strategically plan for their development.”
“The first-round match Essequibo versus Demerara at Imam Bacchus will have livestream coverage on the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRyqBgNIj3k,” the release indicated.
Meanwhile, the Demerara Cricket Board announced their squad for the tournament with Dave Mohabir named captain and Arun Gainda, vice-captain.
The squad includes Kishawan Silas, Permeshwar Ram, Saayd Lakeram, Mikel Sharma, Josiah Lim, Trilok Nanan, Dhanesh Persaud, Emmanuel Lewis, Brandon Henry, Shane Prince, Reyaz Latif and Darwin La Rose.
