The West Demerara section of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha (GHDS) today expressed condolences on the passing of Richie Hansraj whose body was found in a car today in the parking lot of the Marriott Hotel along with that of his friend Justin Teixeira.
In a post on Facebook it said in part:
“We the West Demerara Naujawaan members extend sincere condolences to the family of our dear friend and brother Richie Hansraj.
“Richie will be fondly remembered for his humbleness, generosity and mesmerising voice.
“He attained first place in male category singing at the age of eight years old in the year 2008 at the GHDS Kala Utsav. He trained the children of the West Demerara Praant for Kirtan singing for over 6 years. For these years the WCD praant were able to bring home a first place trophy. All thanks to Richie and his dedication to ensuring we were the best and for always making the time to train the kids. He made it all possible for us.
“We are extremely proud of Richie. He will always be known as a multi talented individual, who was very caring and down to earth. His humbleness touched many hearts, near and far.
“You will be sadly missed by all of us our dear brother. We pray for your soul to rest in Peace.”
