Dear Editor,
I am a Guyanese resident in Jamaica but maintain my home in Ogle on the East Coast. Periodically, I visit Guyana and have noted the developments which are taking place. Unfortunately, Editor, it appears that as development and construction take place, there is a high degree of lawlessness being tolerated with unauthorised construction, appropriation of parapets and, in my particular case, the blocking off of the Northern Section of Well Street, Area D Ogle, East Coast Demerara. Since June last year I have made written and oral complaints to the Industry/Plaisance NDC without any success. My first approach was to the Industry/Plaisance NDC whose official was un-co-operative. In frustration and hoping for some result, I have written the Local Government Commission, the Minister of Local Government, the Minister of Public Works and President Ali more than three months ago. I have received no response from the President, his ministers or the Local Government Commission. I hope that by the publication of this letter someone will take note and bring an end to the lawlessness.
Sincerely,
Rohit Persaud
