Joshua Williams, the murder accused who was recently held by police, was arraigned on Monday to face to the charge.
Williams, a 19-year-old labourer of Lot 20, Swan, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce on Monday at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court.
Williams was not required to plead to the charge that he murdered Joseph Davis and was remanded to prison. He was ordered to make his next court appearance on May 30, 2022 for reports.
On April 8, 2022, the Guyana Police Force had issued a wanted bulletin for Williams. The bulletin came two weeks after Davis succumbed to his injuries at a city hospital.
Williams was nabbed last Wednesday when he was found hiding at his father’s house at Kuru Kuru, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) had initially said that the incident which led to Davis’ hospitalization took place around 01:00hrs on March 19, 2022, but did not provide any information about how it occurred or the injuries the dead man had suffered.
Stabroek News was told police that ranks of the Timehri Police Station went to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) on three occasions after his altercation with Williams to interview Davis and obtain a statement but they were unable to do so.
Davis was admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit following a surgery. Around 09:20 hrs on March 27, 2022, a rank returned to the hospital to interview Davis and was informed by a nurse that Davis succumbed earlier that day while receiving treatment.
