The annual Mayor’s Cup nine-a-side Inter Ward/Village knockout football will conclude today after several weeks of action at various venues.
Ply will begin from 6pm at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) Ground with the quarter-finals following which the semis and the grand finale will take place bringing the curtain down on the tournament held in honour of Georgetown Mayor Ubraj Narine.
Last Sunday at Den Amstel, the eight remaining teams stayed in contention for the $600,000 first prize by booking their respective places in the quarter-finals.
Today’s quarter finals matchups will pit Bourda All Stars against Den Amstel, Tucville against West Side Spartan, Sparta Boss against Friendship Front and Diamond against Haslington.
Only the first four teams will receive cash prizes with the second prize being $300,000 and $200,000 and $100,000 for the third and fourth placed finishers.
