Barrington wins 800m

Devaun Barrington leads the pack heading into the final lap of the men’s 800m before sprinting for the win.

Devaun Barrington put the nation on notice as to who is the best 800m athlete by out sprinting his competition in the final 300 metres in the highlight of meet two of the five-part Arrowhead League staged at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora on Sunday.

According to a release from the organisers, the race was hotly contested from start to finish with Barrington putting on the burners in the final 300 metres to best the likes of Nicholas Daw, Courtley Bobb and Daniel Melville is what could be deemed as the performance of the day.

Barrington won the two-lap event in 1:55.84s. Daw finished second in 1:56.68s while Bobb was third in 1:57.48s. Melville narrowly missed the podium with a time of 1:58.26s to finish fourth.
