DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, CMC – Stroke-maker Deandra Dottin struck her second straight unbeaten half-century, getting the better of West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor who carved out a fifty of her own, as Barmy Army trounced Tornadoes by eight wickets here yesterday.
Asked to chase 151 after Taylor had dominated with 78 not out off 54 balls, Barmy Army overhauled their target with 25 balls to spare, with Dottin controlling the run chase with an excellent 56 not out off 40 deliveries.
Only two days ago, Dottin hammered an unbeaten 80 against Falcons as Barmy Army slipped to their only defeat of the inaugural FairBreak Invitational Tournament at the Dubai International Stadium.
They have eight points and lie second, one point behind Falcons who have an identical win-loss record of 2-1.
Sent in, Tornadoes were carried to 150 for two off their 20 overs thanks to Taylor who lashed eight fours and three sixes, batting at number four.
She was helped by South African Sune Luus who belted 66 not out from 58 balls, the pair putting on 145 for the second wicket to pull the innings around from the dire position of five for two in the second over.
Taylor brought up her 50 off 39 balls in the 15th over with the first of two fours off 20-year-old Pakistan seamer Fatima Sana.
In reply, Dottin took the initiative for Barmy Army, counting five fours and three sixes as she inspired a 116-run opening partnership with Kavisha Egodage who struck 43 from 42 balls with half-dozen fours and a six.
The 30-year-old Dottin reached her landmark off 39 deliveries in the 14th over with a single off Pakistan seamer Aliya Riaz, before finishing the contest with a six off the same bowler over long off in the 16th over.
