The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) in tandem with the Regional Democratic Council of Mahaica Berbice (Region 5) yesterday provided roofing sheets to residents of Bath Settlement who were affected by Saturday’s freak storm.
The storm was a combination of high winds and heavy rainfall which resulted in structural damage to twenty properties in the West Coast Berbice community. A release from Region Five said that the residents were elated to receive the help while lamenting that there is still much to be done on the road to recovery.
Regional Chairman, Vickchand Ramphal, told the residents that they will continue to receive assistance but they must do their part to ensure that they are safe from future hazards.
