Sahadeo, Van Lange, Bissu, Wong storm into round of 16

Guyanese racquet wielders Krystian Sahadeo, Colin Wong, Jonathan Van Lange and Niran Bissu stormed in to the round of 16 of the Caribbean Youth Champion ships in the Dominican Republic yesterday.

Both Sahadeo and Wong topped their respective groups while Bissu and Van Lange qualified by placing second in theirs.

Sahadeo gained a walkover in his first group match against Donsley Estanus of Haiti before whipping Andres Cedeno of the Dominican Republic  11-7, 11-6, 11-6 and then defeating Jamaica’s Matthew Fung 11-3, 8-11, 11-2, 11-8.

He will meet the Dominican Republic’s

Cristopher Rodrigues from 1045am today. morning.

Van Lange placed second in his group after losing to Jabdiel Torres of Puerto Rico, 9-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-7 but defeating Rawson Harris of the Leewards 11-6, 11-1, 11-9 and the Dominican Republic’s Darling Castro 11-2, 11-3, 11-3.

He will face Puerto Rico’s Jose Nieves at 10.45am today.

Bissu also placed second in his group after defeating Trinidad’s Samuel Humphries 10-12, -11-7, 11-6, 11-9 and  Jamaica’s Rasheed Clarke 11-8, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6 but losing  to the D

ominican republic’s Abit Tejada 4-11, 7-11,5-11.

He will face another Dominican Republic player in Yoel Mendoza in the round of 16 at 1045am today.

Wong defeated Trinidad’s Malik Gopaul 11-7, 5-11, 14-12, 11-5, Dominican Republic’s Alvin Tejada 11-3, 11-1, 11-2 and Grenada’s Dewayne Dinnon-Newland 11-6, 11-8, 11-7.

He will play Jayden Ebanks of Jamaica this morning in the round of 16.

Two other Guyanese players Ebo Mc Neil and Malachi Moore failed to advance, Moore lost 0-3 to Yadier Lopez of Puerto Rico and 2-3 to Ivan Vila meno of the Dominican Re

public while Mc Neil lost 0-3 to Alexander Tejada of the Dominican Republic and Ryan Cuadro Perez of Puerto Rico respectively.
