Kellorn Crighton, a 22-year-old of Byderabo Road, Bartica was yesterday arraigned at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on the charge of murder.
He is accused of stabbing 24-year-old miner Alston Seon of Potaro Road, Bartica to death on Mother’s Day.
The man appeared before Magistrate Crystal Lambert where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plead and was remanded to prison until June 9 when he will make his next court appearance.
According to the Police, Seon, his friend and three others were at the corner of 3rd Street and 3rd Avenue, Bartica, drinking beers when Crighton approached Seon’s friend and began threatening him saying that he was going to “buss his throat.
In a statement, the police said that Seon intervened and told Crighton to desist from what he was doing. Crighton then turned his attention to Seon, drew a knife from the waist of his pants and dealt him a stab to the right side of his chest.
Seon fell to the ground and was picked up by his friend and taken to the Bartica Public Hospital where he succumbed. The body was checked and a single wound was seen.
A post-mortem examination ruled that Seon died as a result of a single stab wound to his heart.
