The Ministry of Health yesterday reported 56 new cases of COVID-19 and four persons are in the ICU.
The new cases come on top of 42 on Tuesday and indicate a sharp rise in infections compared to previous days.
With the decline of cases and fatalities in recent months there has been a general loosening of masking requirements and members of the public have been taking fewer precautions.
On Tuesday, amid the rise in cases, Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony urged members of the public to use masks and to continue to take the necessary precautions. The COVID death toll remains at 1228. The number of recovered cases is 62, 251.
