Nineteen-year-old granted bail after marijuana found under bed

Nineteen-year-old Anasia McAllister was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $250,000 after 17.1 kilograms (kg) of marijuana was found under her bed last month.

The marketing clerk of Perry Street, Tucville, Georgetown, appeared virtually at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, where she denied that on March 26, 2022 at her Tucville home, she had in her possession 17.1 kg of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

McAllister was granted bail and the matter was adjourned until the 8th of June, 2022 for report. The teen had been previously remanded to prison on March 29, 2022, on the same charge.

Reports had stated that ranks from the Police Narcotics Branch, CID, Eve Leary, Georgetown, went to the home of the teen on March 26, 2022, where searches were conducted and two brown boxes were found under her bed which contained several rectangular, brown, duct-taped parcels.

The parcels were then opened in her presence, and a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis sativa was observed.

She was told of the offence, arrested and escorted to the Narcotics Branch, along with the suspected cannabis which was weighed and amounted to 37.70 pounds and equivalent to 17.1 Kg.
