The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) yesterday announced the return of senior female Inter-county cricket which bowls off tomorrow with a T20 format.
The tournament marks a return of women’s cricket for the first time since 2020 and will feature two customary formats, T20 and 50 overs.
The competitions will run until May 22.
Round one of the T20 fixture will be played at Albion Community Centre Ground with the Select XI taking on Demerara from 09.00 hours before Essequibo face home side, Berbice at 13.30 hours.
Action then returns to Georgetown at the Everest Cricket Club ground where Essequibo and the Select XI will lock horns from 09.00 hours followed by heavyweights, Demerara and Berbice clashing from 13.30 hours.
The final round will also be played also at Everest where Essequibo and Demerara battle in the morning followed by Berbice and the Select XI in the afternoon.
The 50-over fixture will see the Select XI facing Demerara at Everest and defending champions, Berbice battling Essequibo at Enmore Community Centre in the opening round.
Demerara and Berbice will then play at Enmore while Select XI and Essequibo will take on each other at Everest in round two.
The third and final round will see Essequibo and Demerara facing off at Enmore and Berbice tackling the Select XI at Albion.
West Indies women’s players, Cherry-Ann Fraser, Mandy Mangru, Shabika Gajnabi, Shemaine Campbelle and Sheneta Grimmond will all be in action.
Shemaine Campbell will join the team on May 19.
