“Hold It Down” is a new Dancehall single, which was released just last week by One Dan in collaboration with Davy Marley, both of whom are Lindeners. The song encourages listeners to stay the course no matter the challenges in life as one day better will come.
One Dan, born Clive Downer, said that since its release, fans have been raving about the song. He believes this is because it is motivational for many who can relate to struggling. “Hold It Down” is One Dan’s sixth release this year, an achievement he is proud of. His other songs released this year are: “Main Danger”, “Lift It Up”, “Bait Dem”, “Space”, and “Nuclear”.
“Hold It Down”, which was produced by Code R3d Records in Linden, is currently available for listen and/or download on Youtube, Spotify, Apple Music and Audiomack under ‘One Dan x Davy Marley/Hold It Down’. It has been featured as ‘Song of the Day’ on HJ 94.1 BOOM FM. One Dan said that he did not stop to write the lyrics as both he and Davy are long past that stage. The singers, in fact, took turns freestyling the lyrics in the studio. It was their first collaboration, and they are currently collaborating on another song expected to be out in a month’s time.
One Dan shared reluctantly that he has other projects he is working on but he doesn’t want to put much out there just yet as he prefers to be a man of action instead of one who just talks. Pressed, he did mention that he would be collaborating with Fraser Records, Code R3d Records, Kings Drac Productions, Producer Rxwwle and 5AM Digital.
Recently, at Linden’s All Black Party, One Dan was among the many performers. He also sang alongside Jamaican artiste Shaneil Muir. The singer said that for a recording artiste like himself, who has only been on the local entertainment scene for a year and four months, performing alongside Muir was a major opportunity.
“This was great exposure. [This was my] first time performing on stage alongside an international artiste. Just the love and support was great motivation. [I’m] trying to improve on myself and my talent for upcoming performances,” One Dan said.
