Campbell, John win first two stages

Riders from Team Foundation will roll into the hills of Linden this morning with the aim of a podium sweep following their heroics on day one of the 39th Independence Three-Stage road race which pedaled off yesterday in Berbice.  

Thanks to commanding wins by Akil Campbell and Jamual John in the first two stages, the team, which also includes star rider, Raynauth Jeffrey, will be eyeing a historic finish in the most prestigious and longest tenured local cycling event. 

Campbell of Trinidad, won the initial 40-mile stage from Corriverton to New Amsterdam with his breakaway teammate Jeffrey inches away. Deeraj Garbarran in placed third in excess of four minutes behind.
