A miner was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $150,000 on the charge of attempted murder.
Twenty-five-year-old Dexter Shelves of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, appeared virtually at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus to answer to the charge.
The charge stated that on May 10th, 2022, at Wrong Turn Backdam, North West District, with intent to commit murder, he unlawfully assaulted Joel Benn.
The man pleaded not guilty and was placed on $150,000 bail.
In order to stay 200 ft away from the complainant, Shelves was ordered to remove from the mining area where both he and Benn work.
The matter was adjourned until August 2nd, 2022.
