This was confirmed by his son, Stephen Brown yesterday. According to Stephen, his father succumbed to pneumonia and heart failure at the Ealing Hospital in West London.

“He was hospitalised on Friday and he was doing well yesterday morning according to his nurse but was unresponsive when the nurse next came to do his observations, he passed in his sleep around 3pm.”  Brown who migrated from then British Guiana to England three years after his debut, had 59 professional bouts during his almost decade long career. His record read 39-14-6.  Brown won his debut match versus Danny Payne via unanimous decision on June 11, 1948 and retired following a points loss to Evie Vorster on July 9, 1957.
