An exceptional all-round performance from Kaysia Schultz ensured Demerara Women a 179-run win over Select XI yesterday at National Stadium, Providence as the Guyana Cricket Board senior female inter-county tournament continued.
Demerara won the toss and amassed 276-7 in their 50 overs after opting to bat. Select XI were routed for 97 after 26 overs.
Schultz top scored with 63 from 76 balls after striking five boundaries. Together with Heema Singh who made a 43-ball 30, the two added 83 in a fifth wicket partnership.
Earlier, the foundation was laid by Lashauna Toussaint who struck seven boundaries on her way to 60 from 78 balls before being bowled by Jamie Campbell. Meanwhile Kavita Yadram cracked five fours during her 56-ball 52. No other batter reached double figures.
Select XI gifted 46 extras, while Niveena Ramnauth and Haneesa Mohammed picked up two wickets each for 39 and 45 runs respectively.
Schultz returned with her left-arm spin to grab 3-12 from her seven overs and was supported by Shemika Edwards, Singh and Mandy Mangru who all picked up two wickets a piece.
Realeanna Grimmond played the lone hand with a top score of 35 from 67 balls, featuring seven boundaries. Grimmond shared a productive 38-run partnership with Darshanie Subramanie (03) but got little support. Extras chalked up 37 towards the target as only Kareena Singh with 11, managed double figures.
