Capital FC, and Topp XX fashioned victories when the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) Senior Men’s League continued on Friday at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground, Linden.
Capital FC defeated Winners Connection 2-0. Tyriq McAllister opened the scoring in the 12th minute, curling a free-kick outside the 18-yard box into the back of the net. Emmanuel Atkins then sealed the scoreline in the 84th minute, receiving a cross from McAllister, before slotting his effort past the advancing goalkeeper and defender.
Meanwhile, Topp XX squeaked past Milerock 2-1. Following a scoreless first half interval, Travis Watterton, gave Topp XX the lead, as he converted from the penalty mark following an infraction inside the 18 yard area.
The score ballooned to 2-0 in the 81st minute, as Abram Brown slotted past the onrushing goalkeeper during a one-on-one situation. Milerock would record a consolation goal in the form of Jermin Mason in the 87th minute.
The event continues today at the same venue with another doubleheader. At 18:00hrs, Silver Shattas will oppose Amelia’s Ward Panthers, while the feature contest at 20:00hrs will pit Botofago against Blueberry Hill.
